3 reasons why taking things slowly can help you become more productive

In a world of rapid innovation, technology, and the age of social media, it can feel exhausting trying to keep up with it all while growing a business and staying connected to your people. There is a sense of always missing the moment or missing out on a new trend and it can very quickly begin to feel like you don’t have what it takes to keep up.

Our smartphones affirm us faster than anything ever has and probably ever will. Instant gratification seems to be the new normal and it doesn’t seem like things will be slowing down anytime soon.

Anyone else feel this?

You are not alone. Many others feel this way and we want to encourage you with this:

You are always right on time. You are never too late.

Now to take this a step further, let’s talk about the many reasons why simplifying your life and slowing down and taking technology breaks actually all help to SPIKE your productivity, creativity, and push you much farther ahead in the long and short term.

1. Your brain – literally – needs a break.

If all you do is obsess over your business, making money, and live your life behind a screen, you are statistically going to be less productive.

Your brain needs a break. You need sunshine. You need to have fun. You need to be present.

If you only spend time thinking about the future, you completely miss the NOW.

You will miss moments. Your brain is physically tired. Give it rest by getting more sleep, getting outside, exercising, reading a book, spending quality time with your people, or simply meditating and soaking in the sounds of nature.

Don’t over consume and over stimulate your precious mind. You have to slow down to speed up!

2. Trying to do too many things is actually holding you back.

When you try to take on all of the things at once without stopping, you are actually making it harder on yourself.

Instead of investing in help to take on the tasks you are less skilled at or absolutely loathe, you are losing money by wasting more time. The more time you save, the more money you will have.

Give up your daily starbucks for a month and put that money towards a VA that can help you get admin done at record speeds if money is a concern. Get to the root of your fear of delegation if the problem is that you need to control every aspect of your business. Delegation does not mean you give up your leadership and mastery.

Get to the root of what you’re afraid of.

Release and receive the help from others or release the things you shouldn’t be wasting your time on.

This is also relevant when selling products or services. If one isn’t selling, do NOT invent 5 more products and throw things at the wall on a whim. Get to the root of why your initial offer isn’t selling and fix it until you master it. Become a master at one so that you can sell out and EXPAND.

When it comes to selling, always remember that as Allan Dib says, “A confused mind says no.” Don’t overcompensate and overwhelm your audience. Hone in and perfect your offers and get really good at one thing at a time.

3. There is no such thing as the perfect time.

If you frequently tell yourself that you’ll do that thing when “the timing is right” then you are just not that motivated to do it. Plain and simple. You are self-sabotaging and making excuses instead of taking action. Because guess what? The timing will never be perfect.

The timing is based on YOU and when you’re ready to go for it. If not now, when?

Be brave.

Do the thing you know you should be doing. Do the thing that lights you up and gets you excited. Do the thing that scares you but also exhilarates your soul.

Even if it doesn’t go as planned, you took a leap and you’re closer to the good stuff. The stuff that makes life exciting and your heart full.

Don’t give up before you even start. The timing won’t be perfect until you decide it is time to start.

Don’t let the fear that you’re missing moments or getting behind this fast-paced society ever speak over the fact that you are exactly where you need to be.

You are destined for greatness as long as YOU and you alone believe it.

Spoiler alert…we believe it too.

You are right on time.

You are right on time.

YOU ARE RIGHT ON TIME.
