6 Tips for Juggling Multiple Tasks as a Business Owner

No matter how productive you may be, there are times when it feels as if you’re juggling more to-dos than is manageable. If this feels familiar, take a deep breath. You’re doing so, so well.

Here are some tips to help you juggle everything you need and want to do as a business owner:

Make a To-Do List

The easiest way to juggle several things simultaneously as a business owner is to use a to-do list. As simple as it sounds, this solution is a game-changer for business owners. Write down everything you need to do for the week on Monday – or better yet, on Friday so you can get to work on Monday morning.

Make sure you mark things off the to-do list, too. Science tells us that each time we cross something off our lists, we receive a little dopamine hit as a reward. We get an immediate sense of achievement when we do. How nice is that?

Prioritize Your Tasks

Take your to-do list to the next level by prioritizing your tasks. Decide on one or two big things to do each day, and then fill in your schedule with the smaller, less critical tasks. When you prioritize what needs to get done, you’ll have a better handle on your schedule.

Use Resources to Support Yourself

Solo business ownership can be difficult, but it’s completely doable. Even if you’re not building your business alone, resources such as schedulers, quality digital marketing resources like Inspired Stock Shop, calendars, and project management platforms can do much of the heavy lifting for you.

Choose platforms and memberships that suit your unique personality and work style for the best success.

Reduce Distractions

When you’re overwhelmed by everything you need to do, one of the most important actions you can take is reducing distractions. Social media notifications, text messages, too many open windows on your computer, and even your beloved pets can add to the stress of juggling many things simultaneously.

Instead, set aside 25 minutes to focus on one task with your phone in airplane mode and notice how much you can get done quickly. Take a short break, and then, if you’re feeling ready, do it again for another 25 minutes. This is called the Pomodoro Method, and it’s highly effective for distraction-free work.

Take Breaks

Even when your to-dos have piled up, taking care of yourself is essential. Breaks throughout your day will help you feel less stressed and more creative. If you’ve been sitting too long, get up and stretch. Move around a bit and then come back to your work. These small breaks throughout your day will help you juggle your day-to-day tasks more easily.

Be Self-Compassionate

Finally, exercising self-compassion will help you through the challenging periods of business ownership. Recognize how much you’re already doing rather than criticizing yourself for missing a deadline or stressing yourself out about a project. I would be willing to bet you are changing the world and growing your business in ways you don’t even realize.
