5 Ways to Celebrate the Full Moon

The Full Moon is a time for celebration. It is a time to be grateful and appreciate all that you have achieved in the past month. For many people, it also represents an opportunity for manifestation, both of what you want to bring into your life and release those negative thoughts or beliefs that no longer serve you.

The Full Moon Ritual is a symbol of the natural cycle and our ability to manifest from within. So whether you’re ready for some release or looking to bring in new beginnings, here are a few ways to celebrate the power of the full moon.

Set your intention for the month

A full moon cycle is plenty of time to take your whole life in another direction!  Set your goal the night of the full moon.  What do you want to let go of? What is your intention for the next month?

Feel your intentions as you repeat it to yourself before bed. Gently place a white candle near you so that its light can guide your wish into being.

Tonight I will affirm my intention of ______________ by repeating this phrase: “I am ___________.”

Meditate

To increase your intuition, add a full moon affirmation to your meditation practice each night. You can hold the intention of calling something in or releasing an old limiting belief, depending on where you need more help.

The moon is a powerful symbol of intuition, mystery and feminine energy. It’s also known to have the ability to increase your psychic abilities. Affirm that you are calling in what you need into your life by repeating a phrase, such as “I welcome my full abundance”, for example.

When you meditate, clear your mind of all thoughts by focusing inward through relaxation-based techniques like visualization or a mindfulness meditation.

Write down any thoughts, feelings, or insights that come up during your meditation.

Write it out

Write out your intentions for the next new moon cycle and light candles with specific intentions. If there’s something weighing heavily on your heart, this may also be a good opportunity for some self-reflection & forgiveness journaling.

This is a time to get quiet, reflect and celebrate.

Take a ritual bath

Draw a hot bath, turn out the lights and use candles. Add natural bath salts and rose petals. Soak and use the time to meditate quietly or bless yourself. Play soothing music or burn loose incense such as Gardenia or Vanilla Leaf for fragrance throughout evening hours – these scents are associated with lunar energy.

Pull a Card

To honor all of the changes that have been happening in your life, I recommend starting with an insightful tarot reading which could serve as both a general reading about how things are going now and also help focus attention on particular areas by using different spreads with specific meanings.

Add some of these elements to your full moon ritual as well: sage for cleansing negativity (smudging); candles; lavender essential oils on pillows and black tourmaline gemstones.

Carving out space during moon phases to go inward and take stock of what’s showing up for you, creates the opportunity to create intentions and find rhythmicity in your own life.

You are in charge of what this moment means for you so feel free to make it anything that speaks to your soul!
